Welcome to the First Cast
Now the dog days of summer are here, the flies are smaller and the fish are warier. Brian can't wait because his real forte is fishing the midges.
If you saw his presentation at "Grand Opportunities" in June you will have learned some of the secrets of catching fish on these tiny flies.
His biggest fish of his career (26") was caught on an 18 CDC caddis!
The remainder of the season will highlight the small stuff like: tiny BWO #20 & 22, Tricos #20 - 28, Flying ants #18 to 24, Caenus #24 to 32! Brian will show you the tricks of the trade to help make fishing easier.
You will learn tricks to: help you see the fly, tie the fly onto your tippet, tie your knots, find rising fish, avoid drag...all the tips that make for a successful midge season.
If you are looking for a chance to get the most out of the rest of the season give us a call and book your guide or lesson while bookings are available.
High waters mean a great Salmon/Steelhead season is ramping up. Book your Guide or lesson early to ensure your spot!
Hook Line &Sinker and The First Cast is pleased to announce the introduction of several new and exciting product lines to our family of quality products.
Sage, Hardy/Greys, and Fishpond will be a fantastic compliment to our already wide range of retail items.
Our philosophy has always been to provide the best available quality at each price point, be it with rods, reels and/or clothing.
With the introduction of these new product lines, we feel that we are well on the way to completing this goal.
We already have inventory on the aforementioned. As the month progresses and some of the 2009 line-up is released by the above manufacturers we will be happy to showcase their line-up.

New Gift Cards now available
You can now get the perfect gift for the fly fisher in your life. Cards come in several unique designs and can be re-filled.
All-original mayfly patterns based on the biology of the major mayfly species. 90 ALL-NEW PATTERNS, designed to let me (and now you) focus on fishing, not guessing.
I also knew that the behaviors of different mayfly species, dramatically determine where, when and HOW you should fish different flies. Based on entomological studies and years of experience on the stream, I wrote fly-by-fly fishing instructions for every different mayfly collection.
Those instructions are printed on the custom-designed Complete Hatch fly boxes, so the "secrets" are in your vest pocket, not back in some book on your shelf.
With each collection you receive:
- one Dozen flies (Two each of 6 original mayfly patterns) that match all the life stages of a single mayfly hatch,
- Custom-designed fly box
